Quality of life: Eindhoven second in world rankings
2 March 2023
According to market researcher Numbeo, there is only one other city in the whole world that scores better on quality of life than Eindhoven (and it’s also in the Netherlands). Based on cost of living, housing indicators, healthcare, traffic, crime and pollution, Eindhoven scores a handsome second place. This is good news for everyone who lives or works in Eindhoven. It’s even better news for anyone who doesn’t and wants to improve on it.
The Netherlands has no less than four cities represented on Numbeo’s list: The Hague (1), Eindhoven (2), Rotterdam (6) and Amsterdam (14). Eindhoven’s high score is partly due to factors that also apply to the other cities, such as access to healthcare. But above all, the city has unique strengths. There’s a reason we call it the Brainport region: it’s a top technological region where it’s nice to live, work and play.
Innovation and technology
Brainport is the breeding ground for innovation, technical progress and advanced machinery. We lead the way in areas such as energy transition, healthcare improvement and green mobility. It’s a growth engine of the Dutch economy. Of course, that demands something of Eindhoven. So things like labour market scarcity, pressure on infrastructure and housing shortages are being structurally addressed. The combination of embracing what is already going well and working on what could be even better causes Eindhoven to score so highly on quality of life.
Accountancy and advice
Joanknecht has been part of the Brainport region for 75 years. Well before that name was assigned to Eindhoven and the surrounding area, we were already assisting our clients with advice and services. We specifically choose to have one office. It is a colourful meeting place that perfectly matches the diversity of Eindhoven, our clients and ourselves. We pay a lot of attention to being an attractive employer. This high quality of life score contributes nicely to that. If you are not yet working in Eindhoven, we warmly invite you to take a look at our vacancies: www.werkenbijjoanknecht.nl.
